Cleanliness

I have spent half my weekend cleaning my room, & I am proud to say::

My room looks awesome.

I love being in my room when it's all clean & tidy. It's like an oasis. A getaway. I curl up in my big chair & read, or jam out to my favorite spotify playlist. I love just being in my room & being alone, especially during the school week since I'm around loud, obnoxious people for seven & a half hours a day. We added on to our house last summer, & it's taken me awhile to get all the furniture & organization & arrangement done for my room. But it's almost there. I just have to get some art on my walls & then I'm finished. But it's pretty good for right now.

In some ways I almost don't want to move out because I like my room so much.

Just kidding.

Sort of.

Restart

Ehhh I know I never use this anymore. But that's almost good because I can just post whatever I want & no one will see it.

I'll probably just use this as an occasional photo diary.

These are some recentish instagram snaps I have floating around on my computer.

Self portraits are always tricky. But as I was driving home from church, the light was just perfect. So I grabbed my camera.

...in the name of love.

I took down my Christmas tree & cleared the perfect nook for a chair. I have the coziest dark green one there now, & it's one of my favorite spots in my room.

I love the way wearing tights makes me feel. I feel girly & perfect & confident, for some odd reason.

This was taken in at Huntington beach December on a California road trip with my best friend. It was cold, but so serene at the same time.

Exciting things are around the corner! I've finally opened my etsy store, & listed my first item. Partypartyparty! I couldn't be more thrilled. Hopefully I'll be able to go thrifting & get some pretty things cleaned & up before Bye Bye Birdie opens this weekend (tickets at www.cytvanport.org!). These are the vintage pretties I have up right now. (:

You can get these at my shop, ClassyAttic. & if you pick them up locally, there's (of course) no shipping charges. Just arrange a time to meet. I live in the Vancouver/Portland area.

Pattern Mixing

I was really hoping I could avoid this becoming a "once-in-a-while" blog. But it might have to. Especially at this time of year, outfit pictures are getting really hard. I decided to see if inside worked better, & I actually got a few okay pictures this time (minus the shoes...just imagine a black version of the boots in this post). You should know it was late when I took these. Lindsey looks a little sleepy. And I cut my head off in the first one (oops) but it was the only photo that showed a font view. I'll get better pictures next time. Promise! (:

I've definitely been busy though. I was cast as Kim MacAfee in Christian Youth Theater's production of Bye Bye Birdie (You can get tickets/info here!). Memorizing lines/songs/dances/blocking & rehearsing, finals week, acapella class, youth group/church, jazz choir, teaching Sunday School, homework & trying to squeeze in sleep keeps me just a tad busy. Haha.

Mixing patterns definitely isn't my strong suit. I'm afraid to come across too strong. And I go to a school where almost everyone's idea of style is a shirt splashed with a brand name across the front, paired with $200 jeans, so I have qualms about going over the top. But I decided it was about time, because I don't have enough solids to remix with everything.

The fun thing with this outfit remixing was that I was excited to be pairing to (kid of) opposite items. A dress and a dress shirt. I've been taking a lot of tips from Elizabeth of Delightfully Tacky for mixing prints. A lot of times I find myself standing in my closet, looking over every piece of clothing trying to find inspiration for an outfit. A lot of times, I see two like colors, or a patterned piece, with a separate solid piece and think, "Oh! That could work!" I'd say I end up liking it 60-70% of the time. Which is okay. (: One of my favorite things is having that eye-opening moment when you realize you have a shirt or cardigan that could make a bazillion outfit combinations.

Fall Memories & Freedom

Yikes! Life has been so busy lately, I just haven't had time to post anything. :P I haven't posted in waaay too long. Hopefully I'll get in a routine soon. (This shirt bunches really weird in these pictures by the way, it didn't look this bad in real life)
I got to go on a mission trip to an Indian Reservation in Central Washington with my youth group in November, and that was amazing. It was good to get to know some people better, since I practically know no one at my church. And it was awesome to get to serve people on the Reservation. Good worship and chapels too. It was just all around a good time.

And...one of the most exciting things to ever hapen to me : I GOT MY DRIVER'S LICENCE.

Nope, I'm not excited at all.

Yeah, ^ that's a lie. I really am ecstatic. I got my license on Friday, and drove to see my friend the next morning, way in the country 30 minutes away, and I've been driving somewhere every day since then. It's the best feeling in the world, to be able to go where you want, when you want. To know you have control of your schedule, for at least a moment. And not having to get rides from your parents everywhere is nice. I'm already counting down the days till June 16th, when I can bring friends with me in my car. (:

Autumn Love

All I've been able to write about lately is how much I'm loving fall this year. But I am. It hasn't been too rainy yet (though it's going to start this week), and the trees are so pretty. A lot of them have already lost their leaves, but some trees are just starting to change! I love walking and hearing the leaves beneath my feet. I love going outside and smelling the mix of earth and chimney smoke. I love colors like mustard and pumpkin and forest green and warm brown. I think the Lord has just put this new appreciation for fall in my heart this year, and I love how it's been making me feel. I just feel so thankful for everything and enjoy being alive.

I was so cold when I was out taking pictures in this. I had goosebumps all over me! I really need some more sweater tights, and a coat!  Where's a good place to get tights?

I really like the colors of the skirt/shirt together. Floral is my absolute favorite type of print to wear. It just makes me feel like a pretty girl, and I love it!
When I saw these cute little brown shoes (for only $7!) 2 days ago, I pretty much just did my own little dance in the shoe section of Goodwill. They're absolutely adorable, and are SO comfortable. I love 'em already.
I think twirly skirts are the best thing ever. Paired with floral, which I said already makes me girly, I just feel so feminine. It's truly lovely. I believe Jesus created twirly skirts for girls just like me. (:

I got the idea for the totally easy and delightfully pretty hairstyle from abeautifulmess.typepad.com. I absolutely LOVE it. I do top knots (or as my friend Veronica calls it, a hot mama bun) all the time, but it'll be nice to have a little variation. It's a super cute way to style my frizzy, curly hair when I don't have time to make it look pretty. What's your go-to hairstyle?

Changing leaves & "Granny" sweaters

Goodness me I've been so busy just trying to keep up with homework and such that I never blog. Ehhh.

I'm so into fall this year. It's crazy. I've been more appreciative of everything; the changing colors, drinking spicy teas like vanilla chai, the crsip air, and especially the fall color pallate of clothing(especially since fall-colored clothing looks best on me). I feel like my eyes have been opened to how beautiful fall is. This is such a beautiful time of year. I just can't seem to drink in enough of it. God certainly does wonders with colors. (:

After fall, there's always Christmas to look forward to, (and I'm probably the female version of Santa Claus based on how much I love Christmas), but after that, all that's left is the long, dreary, rainy Northwest winter that seems to drag on forever. I get so bogged down, getting up in the morning is nearly impossible, and my wardrobe turns into cozy sweatpants and sweatshirts instead of cute dresses and skirts.

That's kinda what I did this morning I suppose. I had a super cute outfit all ready to go, but I woke up and was too cold to wear it. I definitely needed something cozy, so I pulled out my comfy, oversized sweatshirt. I almost gave in to laziness, but decided to wear my "Granny" sweater.
It was SO cozy. And I shed on everything at school that day! I hugged one of my teachers who had a black sweater on, and she was covered in my sweater "fur". And in Chemistry, after I got up from my chair, it was covered with little white hairs! Oh well. I was cozy. (:
And the best part, was that almost the entire outfit was thrifted! Eeek! I'm going Goodwill-ing tomorrow, and will hopefully have something exciting new pieces in my wardrobe. (:

So what's your favorite comfy fall clothing piece?
